Yamaha Variable Electric Power Steering (EPS)

Yamaha's newest generation of Electric Power Steering (EPS) has reduced weight by over three pounds and incorporates a "brushless" DC motor for improved reliability and performance. Variable Assist EPS utilizes a magnetic torque sensor that measures steering input based on torsion or 'twist' of the steering post, which is calculated from handlebar input and ski resistance. This data is suppled to an integrated control module which, in turn, signals the brushless servo-motor to assist the steering through its powered, worm-gear drive assembly. All together it gives a more balanced, natural feel or 'connection' to the terrain, and effectively reduces the steering effort required while enhancing predictability for greater rider confidence and less fatigue.

You won't be caught short on a long ride with the convenient, moisture-proof hard storage case and 4.1-gallon / 15.5-liter auxiliary fuel tank. Total fuel capacity is bumped up to 13 gallons / 50 liters, which goes a long way on the trail -- and for your peace of mind.
